Sea Vitamins

Bruce, It was great talking to you. Here is the website for the film and me. http://www3.sympatico.ca/kun.chang/ It is a bit outdated (especially the current projects part). The title of the film I am doing at the moment is called touch - the forgotten sense. It is a one hour film which is another propaganda film. This time to make people aware of the power of touch. The film is being produced by Maxfilms for SRC/CBC and hopefully BBC.

About the film

When I moved to London in 1993 I soon realised that the one thing I was desperately missing was the sea. I had grown up by the sea. Suddenly something I had taken for granted: the sounds, the smell, and the seagulls flying over my head, had gone.

As soon as I got a car, I started to spend every free holiday or weekend by the seaside and gradually started to wonder about what it is that draws me so.

Then I started wondering if there would be people in whom the draw was so strong that they were willing to give up everything just to go and live by the sea.

There are people like this and one day I hope I too will have the courage and possibility to do the same.

My intention originally was to do the film and then move back to Denmark and live by the sea. The problem was that while doing the research for the film I had met a french-canadian girl in Cornwall, England and now live in Montreal (six hours from the sea). It is still my intention to end up by the sea and to do this before I get old and retired but at the moment the outlook is a bit bleak.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want some more information. I will send the cassette out to you as soon as possible.

SEAVITAMINS A beguiling evocation of life by the sea" - The Daily Telegraph "You can taste the brine" - Evening Standard "Hypnotic" - Time Out

To stand at the edge of the world and letting the eye travel as far as it can over an unbroken horizon is what SEAVITAMINS is about. It is a film about people who yearn for that magical place where the land meets the sea. People for whom the sea has become as essential as the air we breathe...the only place where we are truly fulfilled. This documentary follows five people who at some point in their live felt an irresistable urge to be back by the sea and who were willing to give up everything to follow that urge.

SEAVITAMINS focuses on why these people were so desperate to return to the sea and how living by it has changed their life. Each was drawn to the sea for different reasons (claustrophobia, to escape the rat race, to get back to what they had as a child or to experience the power of nature at it's fiercest.) Seavitamins was originally produced for BBC2's 1998 "10x10"
